A new industry-grade 100 kV electron beam writer (EBPG5150plus) will be the only open-access system of its type in Colorado when operational. The device may eventually prove to be a game-changer for interdisciplinary materials and device research in the Rocky Mountain region.

CU Boulder鈥檚 Office of Postdoctoral Affairs (OPA), in partnership with the Postdoctoral Association of Colorado Boulder (PAC Boulder), is offering both virtual and in-person activities throughout the week of Sept. 19鈥�23, including a celebratory kickoff luncheon and bowling and billiards in the UMC. Registration is encouraged for each event.

Arpeggio鈥檚 technology isolates a drug鈥檚 effect on entire transcriptomes and has identified new modulators of hard-to-drug proteins like transcription factors. Funding was led by Builders VC and will support ongoing development of Arpeggio鈥檚 drug pipeline as well as its transcription-monitoring technologies.

RIO Faculty Fellows identifies and develops tenured and tenure-track assistant or associate professors who are poised to lead significant collaborative projects, develop vision and deliver novel and impactful scholarly work. Applications for the 2023 cohort will be accepted through October 21. Selections will be announced in November.

鈥淣othing like this has happened for 50 years,鈥� said Tobias Niederwieser, an engineer on the team and a research associate at CU Boulder's BioServe Space Technologies center. 鈥淭he last time humans sent anything biological on a return trip to the moon was during Apollo 17 in 1972.鈥�

The merger is addressing pressing needs in quantum research for CU Boulder spinout ColdQuanta鈥攁s well as the quantum industry. Both companies are affiliates of Q-NEXT, a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) National Quantum Information Science AV名湿 Center led by Argonne National Laboratory.

Led by Associate Professor Marcus Holzinger (Aerospace Engineering), a team of CU Boulder researchers is embarking on a major project to advance science and monitoring for next generation of space vehicles. The group has signed a five-year cooperative agreement with the Air Force AV名湿 Laboratory.

The city of Boulder and researchers at CU Boulder have joined forces to document and study the urban heat island effect. By deploying specially protected thermometers throughout Boulder, researchers hope to gather data on how trees and vegetation can possibly reduce urban heat as part of a climate-mitigation plan.

The Center for Asian Studies has won $2.2 million in funding from the U.S. Department of Education to support its role as a National Resource Center in Asian Studies and to provide Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) fellowships for students at CU Boulder.
