Dear Strategic Resources and Support team,
I write this holiday season – not only to express my gratitude for your service to this university – but also to make one request: Please do your best this month and over winter break to find time to disconnect from your work to recharge and rejuvenate – whether that means a focus on spending time with loved ones or carving out time for yourself to reflect and refresh.
Why taking a break matters
Your dedication to this university has shined during a fall semester that has been fast-paced, exciting and, at many times, trying. Your division leaders and I recognize that the great work you do in support of our students, faculty and fellow staff happens only when we start from a foundation of wellness.
Putting wellness into practice
Health and Wellness Services has posted a great starting point with its 6 ways to spread joy over the holidays.Ìý
My big takeaway:Â
- I am pleased to see that Number 1 on the list focuses on taking time off and strategies for truly leaving work behind. I will go a step further and encourage each of you to work with your supervisor to find additional days you might be able to take off outside of the winter break window of Dec. 23 to Jan. 1. Our SRS leadership team aims to create a culture where utilizing vacation leave is a positive decision that promotes personal wellness.
Thank you
I am incredibly grateful for the work each of you do every day to create a world-class educational experience for our students and support the ground-breaking research and teaching that positively impact humanity.Ìý
I wish you all joy and good health this holiday season.
Happy holidays to you and yours,
Pat
