Attention aspiring ornithologists! Join us for a day of fun in the classroom and in the field. We’ll spend each day learning about the field of ornithology: what makes birds unique among animals, their many fascinating adaptations and behaviors, and how to identify them. Each day we'll head out with binoculars and bird identification books to make observations on foot around the Science Discovery building. We'll use our eyes and ears to locate and identify beautiful songbirds, ducks, and birds of prey. We’ll look for nests, listen to songs, and create a field journal of illustrations and observations. We'll then head inside to beat the heat and dig deeper into our understanding of bird as we learn about bird morphology, behavior, and flight. Be prepared to gain a deeper interest in birds and an appreciation for the need to conserve these species and their habitats.

What to Bring:

• Backpack for carrying personal items and any class materials they will be taking home. 
• Filled water bottle.
• 2 or more snacks, depending on the child's needs.
• Lunch that does not require refrigeration.
• All programs spend a portion of each session outside. Please send your child with clothing appropriate for the weather (jacket, sweatshirt and/or rain jacket).
• OPTIONAL: A mask or any additional Personal Protective Equipment the child will be utilizing.

​Grade Policy: Careful consideration is used to determine grade levels for all camps and classes. To provide the highest quality experience for all students, it is necessary to adhere to the specified grade range for this program.

Cancellation and Transfer Policy: Science Discovery has designed its school year cancellation policy to minimize the number of class spots that are unused due to last-minute cancellations. Cancellations made more than 15 days prior to the start of the class will incur a $35 administrative fee. No refunds will be given for cancellations made within 15 days of the start of the class. In the event that a class is cancelled by Science Discovery, registrants will receive a full refund. Transfer requests made up to 15 days prior to the start of a class will incur a $15 administrative fee. Transfer requests made within 15 days of the the start of a class will incur a $35 administrative fee.
