On Feb. 25, undergraduate cellist Louis Saxton and graduate violinist Rinat Erlichman were awarded first prizes in the College of Music鈥檚 annual Concerto Competition. Congratulations to all participating students and collaborative pianists!

This year marks a milestone for Professor of Musicology Carlo Caballero who鈥攁long with his academic partner Stephen Rumph, professor of music history at the University of Washington鈥攚ill co-host the Faur茅 Centennial Festival in Boulder, Feb. 27-March 3.

Mention Jamaican music to most Americans and the pop sounds of reggae usually come to mind. But there鈥檚 much more鈥攖he wonderfully rich harmonies of choral music, hundreds of rarely heard sacred songs and folk songs that deserve more exposure. Doctoral student O鈥橬eil Jones is about to make that happen.

Directed by Broadway veteran and CU Boulder College of Music guest faculty Bob Westenberg, 鈥淭itanic, the Musical鈥� comes to Macky Auditorium in March.

As 2023 draws to a close, Dean John Davis reflects on our shared journey at the College of Music and announces a new mission-driven Bachelor of Arts in Music emphasis. Our Bachelor of Arts in Music: Music Production degree will be offered beginning fall 2025!

Isabel Goodwin graduates this month with dual Bachelor of Music degrees鈥攐ne in composition and one in bassoon performance. During their four years at our College of Music, the instrument has served as a gateway to their creative growth, personal connections and artistic expression.

Clarinetist Ashley Civelli doesn鈥檛 operate in a musical vacuum. Her College of Music education has deepened her firsthand experience as both a musician and an educator, roles that are equally important as she looks beyond graduation.
