Hermann posing with his award

McNair Scholar Hermann F. Klein-Hessling Barrientos recently attended the Annual Student Conference of the American Institute of Chemincal Engineers in Orlando, Florida. He presented his research titled "Magnetic Field Effects on the Oxygen Evolution Reactivity in Amorphous Cobalt Oxide Catalysts", under the supervision of Professor Ryan G Hadt from the Department of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering at the California Institute of Technology. For his presentation, Hermann recived an award in the category of Catalysis and Reaction Engineering from Omega Chi Epsilon, a Chemical Engineering- specific honors society.

From Hermann himself: "I would like to explicitly thank the CU Boulder NorthStar Scholarship Program, Carol Casey, Maria Manzares and Professor Ryan G. Hadt for helping me navigate extenuating housing circumstances that would have otherwise prevented me from spending the summer at Caltech. Lastly, I would like to thank the McNair Scholars Program for helping me organize the trip to the conference and for helping secure the residual funding required to attend."

Congratulations, Hermann!
