ISSS is now hiring for International Student Guides! Guides will work from August 13-October 5, assisting with international student orientation, helping new students adjust to CU Boulder, and planning events throughout the beginning of the semester. We would love your help in spreading the word to students. Traditionally, this has been a volunteer position, but we are able to offer pay this semester ($10.20/hour).

International Student Guides

International Student and Scholar Services is seeking international and domestic undergraduate and graduate students to support new, incoming international students as they adjust to life at CU Boulder.
Traditionally, International Student Guides has been a volunteer program, but this year we would like to expand that with a paid portion to provide additional training and opportunities to develop and lead programs that will take place through October 5th. There will be four components to this position:

Component 1: Leadership & Intercultural Training
ï‚· Taking place during the week of August 13th
ï‚· All guides expected to attend

Component 2: Assisting with International Student Orientation
ï‚· Taking place on August 18th and August 20th
ï‚· Guides will help with a few presentations

Component 3: Program Planning & Leading
ï‚· Guides will work together to plan and execute about 4 programs for new international students. These programs will happen from the end of August through the beginning of October to help new international students adjust to the new cultural, academic, and social environment at CU

Component 4: Matching with a new international student
ï‚· As is traditional with the International Student Guide program, guides will match with 1-3 new international students to introduce them to campus resources, answer questions, and plug them into campus life. Guides are expected to meet weekly with their new student match (if the new
No experience is required; intercultural and event planning training will be provided. Position is expected to be 2-6 hours weekly and run from August 13-October 5, 2018 (up to 20 hours of training is to be expected during the week of training). This is an hourly paid position, and is considered on-campus employment. Applicants must have completed at least one full semester at CU to be eligible.
Responsibilities include: assisting with International Student Orientations on August 18th and August 20th, meeting with international students on a weekly basis, helping students navigate campus and resources, planning and implementing events for student participants in the program, and additional duties as assigned.
Mandatory dates: Intercultural Training week of August 13th. International Student Orientation August 18th-20th.
