Reclamation is seeking a Recent Graduate looking for an opportunity to capitalize on his/her expertise as an Environmental Engineer. You can make a difference in the West by assisting in researching and designing desalination, water treatment and wastewater treatment systems. Would you enjoy researching pre-treatment techniques, methods for reducing fouling, reducing operation and maintenance costs and identifying and resolving environmental issues?

Responsibilities include designing and testing pre-treatment systems using advanced water treatment and desalting pilot plants, low-grade heat brine disposal systems, salt-gradient solar ponds, and renewable energy-driven pumping and desalting systems, plan and conduct research to advance the state-of-the-art for treatment technologies.

You can progress from $46K to $66K in 3 years! Year 1 - $46,609 (GS-7), Year 2 - $57,015 (GS-9), and Year 3 - $66,577 (GS-11). Promotions to the next grade/salary level are neither guaranteed nor automatic, but based on supervisor initiation.

-Assists Team Leaders/Project Managers to (a) develop research plans for water/wastewater treatment projects, (b) perform laboratory and field investigations using chemicals and water treatment equipment, (c) analyze research data using spreadsheets and water treatment software, (d) develop conclusions and recommendations, and (e) prepare papers, presentations, and reports on research progress and results.

-Assists Team Leaders/Project Managers to prepare engineering designs for water and wastewater treatment systems.

-Perform special studies to provide guidance, recommendations, and strategies for addressing water treatment issues for Reclamation client offices.

-Assists Team Leaders/Project Managers to perform administrative tasks as needed to perform engineering design projects.

Occasional travel - 20% travel required
