Here are some best practices related to managing device and content anomalies for the FWI Cloud digital signage service.

Content Monitoring

Your Digital Signs are configured to display your department’s content channel, which displays your content playlist. Each sign is also configured for content display fallback so if the sign is not playing your content then it will display basic university default content. These are the troubleshooting steps to take if you encounter any of these content display anomalies.

  • If some of your content is displaying but not all:
    • Check media type (being used) that may have issues on that device and also confirm if the content successfully uploaded
    • Check if the contet has the correct label applied
    • Check if the content is assigned to the correct device
  • If content is displaying but it is not your content:
    • Check to see if your playlist is published
  • If a blank screen issue is encountered:
    • Log into FWI Cloud and check the device preview to see if the device is showing a black screen clear the player cache

Device Monitoring

Monitor the physical computer that runs the digital sign. if you encounter a blank screen issue:

If blank screen issue is encountered:

  • Check if the display is powered on.
  • Check if the computer is powered on and is sending signal.
  • Make sure the player has screen save disabled.
