As a public librarian and arts advocate Cathy McKee, now CJ Di Mento, (Psych) led the designation effort for, and is now leader of, one of California鈥檚 first cultural districts, the Oceanside Cultural District in Oceanside, California. The designation effort was a competitive process with state legislators naming only 14 districts in the entire state. She writes she is 鈥渨orking in a vibrant community to help increase opportunities for arts and culture to thrive equitably without generating displacement in a time when arts organizations are severely impacted by COVID-19.鈥�

David Scott (Mgmt) was selected in March 2020 for the FBI's Senior Executive Service, where he serves as chief of the public corruption and civil rights section in Washington, D.C. After graduating from CU and receiving a commission through the Army ROTC program, David served in the U.S. Army as an infantry officer prior to joining the FBI in 2003.

Known as the 鈥淎coustic Ninja,鈥� Trace Bundy (CivEngr; MS鈥�03) has become recognized for his unique guitar playing style. After several clips of him made the rounds on YouTube, Trace was the subject of a short documentary in 2017, which premiered at Sundance. He and his wife, Rebecca, live in Boulder.听

顿别苍惫别谤鈥檚 Caryn Hartman (Anth, RelSt) won the 2019 Nautilus Award for best children鈥檚 illustrated fiction book. Her book, Dorje the Yak, is a dual language book written in both English and Tibetan.

After Ryan McMunn (Mktg) and his wife Allie recovered from COVID-19, they knew they had to act. The Tricam Industries CEO utilized his business experience to source hundreds of masks from a Chinese factory that produces ladders for his company. They donated the masks to UC Health Boulder and the CU Anschutz Medical Campus. Ryan lives in Denver and also is CEO and founder of BRIC language systems and founder of Leroy Street Capital.听

This April, Gunnar Hand (EnvDes) started as urban planning director for the unified government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas. Gunnar was born in Kansas City, Kansas, and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, and writes 鈥淭his new position is not just a great honor, but a homecoming of sorts.鈥� He previously worked as project manager for the new single terminal at the Kansas City Airport.

While his grandmother battled COVID-19, Corey Cappelloni (Law) dropped everything and ran 鈥� literally 鈥� to be there for her as best he could. An experienced ultra-marathoner, Corey spent seven days running the 220 miles from Washington, D.C., to his hometown of Scranton, Pennsylvania, which was the equivalent of an ultra-marathon each day. In the process he raised over $25,000 for his nana鈥檚 nursing home. He spoke to her through a megaphone from outside her fifth-floor window when finished his quest. 鈥淚 think this will be the highlight of my running career,鈥� he told Runners World this summer.听

Erich Schubert (Jour; MA鈥�08) has been promoted to senior director of communications and content for the Denver Broncos. In his thirteenth season with the Broncos, Schubert鈥檚 role now involves overseeing both the day-to-day functions of the public relations department as well as managing the club鈥檚 digital and social teams. While working on his master鈥檚 at CU, Eric worked as a graduate assistant under associate athletic director and sports information director David Plati (闯辞耻谤鈥�82).

After 10 years in commercial real estate, Eric Chamberlin (Econ) joined Opus Group鈥檚 Denver office this summer as a senior manager of real estate development. He will focus on identifying and executing multifamily, senior living and industrial development opportunities across the greater Denver region.

Aly Jamison (Comm) won a Stevie American Business Award for her work in the communications field. Aly currently works for the sales training company RAIN Group in San Diego as public relations director. She is also a San Diego Blood Bank 鈥淕allon Donor.鈥�

This year, Adam Creapo (Jour, MEdu鈥�13) moved from the classroom to administration. After teaching in Adams 12 and Denver Public Schools classrooms he is now an assistant principal and CareerConnect pathway director at Northfield High School. He lives in Denver with his wife, Amanda, who he met while serving as the Buffs volleyball PA announcer, and his son, Colt.

Investigative reporter and historian Cody Mcdevitt (Jour) wrote Banished from Johnstown: Racist Backlash in Pennsylvania. The book tells the history of a 1923 incident where the town mayor ordered 2,000 African-Americans and Mexican immigrants out of the city at gunpoint and a threat of imprisonment. Cody has reported for the Somerset Daily American in western Pennsylvania and lives in Murrysville, Pennsylvania.听

Juli Sarris (MLing; PhDEdu鈥�15) will be a Fullbright Scholar for the spring semester of 2021 at the University of Prishtina, Kosovo. She will be teaching second language acquisition theory, English as a Second Language and English as a Foreign Language methods and advanced EFL literacy. Juli teaches at many colleges along the Front Range, including CU, and lives in Boulder, along with her husband and two adult children.

Project manager Crystal Boyd (MMuSt) spent five years spearheading efforts to build the Golden Valley History Museum in Minnesota. In 2019, the exhibit received a Minnesota History Award from the Minnesota Alliance of Local History Museums. In 2020, it received a national Award of Excellence from the American Association for State and Local History. Crystal grew up in Golden Valley and now lives in Burnsville, Minnesota.

In 2011 Hayden Dansky (EBio, Phil), along with Caleb Phillips (PhDCompSci鈥�12) and Helen Katich (Geog鈥�13) founded Boulder Food Rescue after studying food waste in Boulder County. Using bicycles the team gathers soon-to-expire foods from over 40 locations and delivers them to communities in need. Hayden continues to work there as executive director, helping ensure operations throughout the pandemic. Caleb is a research scientist at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and an assistant professor at CU. Helen is interim CEO of Fresh Food Connect, which helps prevent food waste through technology.听

Twins Cara (MCDBio) and Amy Faliano (MCDBio) working in the laboratories of the UC Health System. Cara is the coordinator of laboratory safety for UCHealth in the Denver Metro area, and Amy is a lead medical laboratory scientist at UCHealth's Highlands Ranch community hospital. Ben Miller (EnvEngr; MCivEngr鈥�13) and Lynn Pruisner Miller (BioChem, ChemEngr) are proud to announce the birth of their daughter, Regan, in April 2020. They write, 鈥淩egan is an extreme CU legacy baby as many of her relatives are CU grads and will be fourth generation to attend.鈥� Her uncle and both aunts attended CU, Annie Miller (IntPhys; MS鈥�15), Nick Miller (Mktg鈥�12; MBA鈥�16) and Paige Pruisner (EnvEngr鈥�14; MCivEngr鈥�16); both grandmothers, CoLeen Pruisner (Pysch '08) and Kristi Prager Miller (Mus'81; Edu'82); paternal great-uncles Nelson Prager (Chem, ChemEngr'80; MD'84) and Frank P. Prager (ChemEngr, Engl'84) and their five children; paternal great-grandfather Frank C. Prager (ChemEngr'49) and paternal great-great aunt Betty Wise (PE'42). Ben, Lynn and Regan live in Highlands Ranch, Colorado.

Michael Bishof (PhDPhys) and Cynthia Perkon welcomed their fourth child in 2019. Winifred "Winnie" Rose Bishof was born last October, and baptized in December at Mary Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Elmhurst, Illinois. She joins three older brothers in the family.听

David Varel (PhDHist), affiliate faculty at Metropolitan State University in Denver, published a biography titled The Scholar and the Struggle: Lawrence Reddick's Crusade for Black History and Black Power.听

This year, Luke Woodruff (IntPhys) launched Bump Up, a financial savings app. In an interview with VoyageDenver, he said, 鈥淭hough my current and past endeavors have nothing to do with a career in the medical field, I could not be any more happy with where I am in life.鈥�
