Former football player听Matt Russell听(Comm鈥�96) received recognition as part of the 2012 Colorado Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Class at the ceremony in November. Matt won the Butkus Award as the nation鈥檚 top linebacker his senior year and finished his career as the second all-time leading tackler in Colorado. In 2009 he joined the Denver Broncos as their director of college scouting and was named director of player personnel in 2012.

The fourth player in college football history to rush for more than 2,000 yards in a season,听Rashaan Salaam听(Soc鈥�96) did so in an 11-game campaign in 1994 that included six ranked opponents. He led the nation in rushing, scoring and all-purpose yards, leading CU to an 11-1 record and winning the Heisman Trophy, CU鈥檚 first and only, the Doak Walker Award and the Walter Camp Trophy. For these accomplishments, Rashaan was inducted into the Colorado Athletic Hall of Fame at the Coors Events Center last fall. He resides in San Diego, Calif.

On weekdays at 9 a.m.听Ryan Chiaverini听(Jour鈥�00) appears as the co-host of ABC 7鈥檚 new talk and entertainment show听Windy City LIVE听in Chicago. Previously, Ryan was sports anchor for Denver鈥檚 KUSA-TV and often covered the Broncos. While at CU Ryan was the football team鈥檚 strong safety.

Adventure and travel photographer听Lucas Gilman听(Jour鈥�00) captured the moment extreme kayaker Rafa Ortiz paddled down Palouse Falls, a 189-foot waterfall in southeast Washington. The photograph was for his client Red Bull, and Lucas used his Nikon D800 camera, which produces super-high-resolution 36.3 megapixels to capture the four-second free fall. His other clients include such magazines as听Sports Illustrated, National Geographic Adventure听补苍诲听Outside Magazine听and his commercial clients include such companies as Nikon, Patagonia and SanDisk. Julie has more than 10 years of experience in the design and construction of municipal water and wastewater treatment projects, including odor control, pump stations and planning projects. At the University of Michigan听Nghi Nguyen-Phuoc听(Econ, EnvSt鈥�00) received the Barbour Scholarship for the 2012-13 academic year. The scholarship is among the most prestigious to support women at Michigan from Asia who demonstrate the highest academic and professional caliber. Nghi is pursuing a doctorate in urban and regional planning. Her dissertation focuses on the legal and compulsory taking of land and houses from urban residents and businesses in order to build new infrastructure, commercial or residential projects. After graduation she hopes to work in planning research and urban development in Vietnam.

West Hollywood, Calif., resident听David Caspe听(Art鈥�02) is creator, executive producer and head writer of the hit ABC sitcom听Happy Endings.听The sitcom chronicles the misadventures of six friends in their late 20s and early 30s in Chicago. In its third season听Happy Endings听has earned many awards and positive press.

Former CU football player听Joe Garten听(Soc鈥�02) was part of the 2012 Colorado Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Class and received recognition at the ceremony in November. He was one of the first three unanimous All-Americans in CU history and was a consensus first-team All-American as a junior and a two-time unanimous first-team All-Big Eight performer as a junior and senior. Joe was runner-up for the Outland Trophy and holds the school record for the most starts by an offensive player. Joe resides in Yorba Linda, Calif.

U.S. paratriathlete听Melissa Hoffman Stockwell听(Comm鈥�02) won a gold medal, helping the Americans win the overall medal count at the ITU Paratriathlon World Championship in Auckland, New Zealand. The paratriathlon was a 300-meter swim, 20K bike and a 5K run which Melissa finished with a time of 1:22:14. This was her third consecutive world title. Melissa lives in Chicago. She lost part of her leg while serving in Iraq in 2004.

In September听Ashley Jones Baber听(IntPhys, Phil鈥�02) hosted a wedding planning workshop at Swoozie鈥檚 in Cherry Creek, Denver. She had various style vignettes for wedding inspiration and useful takeaway for brides and grooms. She is owner and principal planner of Ashley Baber Weddings and was named 鈥淓ditor鈥檚 Choice鈥� in a 2011 issue of听Bride Magazine.听Ashley resides in Atlanta, Ga.

Physician鈥檚 assistant听Rebekah Kaskubar听(MCDBio鈥�03) was on Semester at Sea during fall 2001. She said she had a terrific experience and the best debriefing was a returnee workshop to let the students who had been abroad during 9/11 discuss the tragedy with one another. She and her husband go to Uganda once a year to help support a school for AIDS orphans. Rebekah lives in Denver.

Lee听(Hist鈥�03) was selected to serve a one-year term on the Young Lawyers Steering Committee and the Young Lawyers Substantive Liaison for the Defense AV名湿 Institute Law Practice Management Committee. Brian practices civil defense litigation as well as complex commercial and business litigation, personal injury and defends professional malpractice claims against accountants, lawyers and real estate professionals. Forever Buffs stood shoulder to shoulder to increase suicide awareness by honoring former football player听Gabe Oderberg听(Comm鈥�03) who committed suicide. Two former CU football players,听Derek McCoy听(Mktg鈥�03) of Thornton, Colo., 补苍诲听Bobby Pesavento听(Comm鈥�07) of Denver, spoke at 鈥淎 Day for Grace,鈥� an eTown Hall show in November to honor the former Buff.

Technology innovators听Dave Morin听(Econ鈥�03) and his wife Brit ranked No. 6 of the 鈥�10 Most Powerful Couples in Tech鈥� by . Dave worked at Apple and Facebook before co-founding the mobile startup Path. Path is a social network that connects close friends and family. Brit was a product marketing manager at Google. The couple married in July 2011 and lives in San Francisco.

Fresh Nail Wax & Dry Bar is a salon in Denver鈥檚 Cherry Creek North owned by听Erin Jacobsen听(Mktg鈥�04) that opened in September. Fresh is different from other salons by offering specialized services and a hygienic environment with a focus on natural, American-made products and 鈥済reen鈥� practices. The salon also serves wine and offers a membership for $29 a month to receive one service and a glass of wine. Erin lives in Littleton, Colo.

Davis Graham & Stubbs added听Anna-Liisa Mullis听(Jour鈥�05, Law鈥�11) to its trial department. Previously Anna-Liisa served as a law clerk for the honorable Judge Gale T. Miller of the Colorado Court of Appeals.
