At the annual meeting of the Consortium for Computing Sciences in College held in Raleigh, N.C.,听William Myers听(MMath鈥�74) received a distinguished service award. William has more than 20 years of service to the consortium. He worked seven years as membership secretary and as treasurer since 1997. He lives in Belmont, N.C.

The book听Caravan of Thieves听(Dutton) by听David Rich听(MEngl鈥�74) was published in August. The fast-paced thriller is an emotional father-son tale described as a cross between听Ocean鈥檚 Eleven听补苍诲听A Few Good Men. As a former screenwriter, this is David鈥檚 first novel. He lives in Ridgefield, Conn.

On May 18 there was a reception for听Christopher Brown鈥檚 (Art鈥�74) show with fabric artist Judith Trager at NCAR in Boulder. The show featured a dozen of his landscape photographs as well as quilts made by Judith that were based on the photographs. At the annual RE/MAX International Convention in Las Vegas,听Duane Duggan听(Bus鈥�78) received the Chairman鈥檚 Club Award for 2011. Duane was one of the featured speakers at the convention and has more than 33 years of experience as a successful real estate broker and investor. He lives in Boulder.

The Real Estate Negotiation Institute awarded听Barbara Young Silverman听(Art鈥�78) the Certified Negotiation Expert (CNE) designation. The designation is earned by real estate professionals after successfully completing formal negotiation training. She lives in Longmont, Colo.

A professional public speaking coach, speech writer, curriculum developer and trainer,听Andi O鈥機onor听(Art鈥�79, MEdu鈥�90, PhD鈥�98) founded Communication Consulting in 2005. Prior to opening her consulting firm, she was an assistant professor at Ohio University and a visiting professor at CU. Andrea has found her doctorate prepared her to tackle life as a tenure-track academic and find multiple professional opportunities. She lives in Boulder.

Boulder residents听Beverly Tucker Fest听(MMus鈥�80) and husband听Bruce Fest(Law鈥�74) celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in May with trips to the Santa Fe Opera in New Mexico and Maui, Hawaii. Beverly is a chaplain and coordinator of Pastoral Care for Boulder Community Hospital, and Bruce is an attorney. They have three children and one grandchild. The couple enjoys traveling, hiking, theater, concerts and Rockies and Nuggets games.

CEO of Al茅m International听Steven McCarthy*听(IntlAf鈥�80) recognized a need for the integration of all services and functions inherent to large events, including safety and security, training, marketing and media relations. As a result, Al茅m International has grown from organizing bicycle races to a broad-based global event, media and marketing company. Steven lives in Longmont, Colo.

In April听Bill Reinert听(MCivEngr鈥�81) participated in CU鈥檚 Conference on World Affairs, speaking on 鈥淭he Future of Energy.鈥澨�He is national manager of advanced technology for Toyota Motor Sales, USA. His primary function is to coordinate Toyota鈥檚 various research, development and marketing activities related to alternative-fuel vehicles and emerging technologies. He lives in Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.

After graduation听Frank 鈥淔ranz鈥� Safford听(ArchEngr鈥�81) started two companies, the most recent being Innovation Glass. His company is implementing a new glass wall product Franz invented, the VS-1 system. He lives in Red Hook, N.Y., and remains a big fan of CU with a strong appreciation for the education he received.
