In January CU alums聽Scott Washburn听(贵颈苍鈥�06),听Bob Wilson聽(Fin鈥�06) and聽John Wilson聽(Jour鈥�06) launched their startup winery in Chicago. Winestyr is a new wine platform that puts consumers directly in touch with wineries via the internet to facilitate sales. The model is a greener channel to purchase wine and has received positive responses from both wineries and consumers.

In the book聽Dig This Gig聽by Laura Dodd (Kensington Publishing)聽Drew Chafetz聽(Econ鈥�06) is featured as one of the 32 individuals who is 20-something and navigating various career routes. He lives in Washington, D.C.

For three years聽Elise Crane聽(IntlAf鈥�06) represented a media organization in Prague before pursuing a master鈥檚 degree. In May she graduated from Tufts鈥� Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and immediately began training with the Foreign Service. She is the press officer at the U.S. Embassy in Kampala, Uganda. Elise vividly remembers attending a 2003 presentation on the Foreign Service in CU-Boulder鈥檚 Hale Science building during which she swore she鈥檇 never go through the hassles of the exam process. She writes she is glad she changed her mind.

On July 21 CU couple聽Melissa 鈥淢issy鈥� DiSalle聽(IntlAf鈥�06) and聽Richard Diehl III聽(Hist鈥�07, MEdu鈥�11) will marry. Melissa is employed by the CU Foundation at the Leeds School of Business, and Richard is a social studies teacher in Commerce City, Colo.

Last summer聽Lauren Gunderson聽(Math鈥�07) and聽Ricardo Jimenez Martinez聽(MPhys鈥�08, MEngr鈥�10) married. Lauren is an executive assistant at the dean鈥檚 office of the CU law school, and Ricardo is working toward a doctorate in physics at CU.

Electrical engineer聽Zachary Miers聽(ElEngr鈥�07, MS鈥�10) will marry in Golden, Colo., on June 3 to Brittany Horlbeck. He lives in Boulder.

Chairlift band member聽Patrick Wimberly聽(Mus鈥�07) has performed hundreds of times playing the drums, keyboards, base and vibes. The band鈥檚 song 鈥淏ruises鈥� was licensed by Apple for an iPod commercial that aired worldwide.

On June 30聽Jessica Amend聽(Psych鈥�08) and聽Grant McGilvray聽(Jour鈥�08) will marry. Jessica continued her education at the University of Denver with a degree in international disaster psychology and Grant works as a broadcast engineer at聽ROOT Sports聽in Denver.

On Sept. 15聽Carly Stenseth聽(Soc鈥�08) and聽Erik Rothschild聽(Econ, Fin鈥�08) will marry. Carly is a teacher at Golden Gate Guppies in San Francisco and Erik is a trading associate at hedge fund Peak6 Advisors.

After graduating from CU鈥檚 arts program,聽Julia Lamberton聽(Art鈥�09) moved to China to teach English.

Director of Nyaya Health聽Mark Arnoldy聽(Psych鈥�10) works in western Nepal to deliver health care through an innovative model for Nepal鈥檚 poorest and underserved. Nyaya Health will be hosting its first event in Boulder in August.

Certified trainer聽Lauren Pierpoint聽(IntPhys, Math鈥�09, MS鈥�11) joined Boulder鈥檚 Fitness for Living as a boot camp trainer. She has taught such classes as cycling, sport conditioning and body sculpting. She lives in Broomfield, Colo.

Overcoming hurdles is second nature for聽Sarah Deacon聽(MCDBio鈥�11). She was the first to graduate in her family with a college degree, a feat especially monumental because she dropped out of high school and spent some time homeless. Her next goal is to go to medical school. 鈥淣ow I am officially qualified to do what I know I am capable of,鈥� she told the聽Colorado Daily.

After serving on CU鈥檚 Program Council聽Justin Greenstein聽(Jour鈥�11) and student Eric Kean had the idea to start their own concert promotion company called Amplitude Entertainment. They assist student groups and campus organizations across the country in hosting cheap shows. Their services are free of charge to campus groups, and the duo takes a percentage of the concert鈥檚 ticket sales or advertising. Justin told the聽Colorado Daily聽that they got the business idea after they were unable to throw a huge spring concert at CU due to lack of funds.

After working with Interactive Theater,聽Anthony Hull聽(PolSci鈥�11) is making a documentary on a school in Harlem with creative partner聽Gregory Callan聽(PolSci鈥�12). Anthony believes that education is one of the most important topics in our country, and in underrepresented communities, great education needs to be available. Earlier this spring he served as a judge in the CU Idol, a campus singing contest sponsored by The Herd.

A two-week trip to Nicaragua inspired聽Michael Pearl聽(Mktg鈥�11) to start an organic, fair-trade coffee buying business to help grow the industry and boost the local economy. 鈥淏asically, I wanted to cut out the middle man,鈥� he told the Boulder聽Camera. He lives in Boulder.
